The Baraboo Clarion Hotel venue will have multiple jam areas always available on three floors (like in past years), additionally we are planning to have specific jams for Gypsy jazz, old time, bluegrass, Irish, Cajun, and sing-along folk music, as well as having bluegrass and old time slow jams for beginning musicians.

You can come in for the day and do not have to stay overnight to attend the event (but staying overnight better allows you jam on into the night and early morning!).

Schedule

The event runs from Friday 6:00 pm until Sunday 11:00 am (checkout). Most of the jams will happen "spontaneously" as folks gather in the jam spaces (plenty of room) located on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors--they will be available all the time throughout the weekend for jams. Jams will undoubtedly pop up in the hotel rooms during the weekend.

We do have several "specific" jams in the hospitality suites (on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors) on Friday and Saturday which are shown on the schedule below:

Of course we hope that folks will feel comfortable getting together to jam and play Gypsy Jazz, Irish, Cajun, Country/Roots and other traditional styles (in addition to bluegrass and old time) throughout the weekend.

Here are the specifics:

What:
Spring String Gathering--jam venues for traditional music. Multiple areas of the hotel on the third, fourth and fifth floors have been designated as "jam spaces." Also, guests can host jams in their rooms on the jam floors. Please specify that you do not want to be on one of these jam floors when booking a room.

Breakfast is included with your stay. Be sure and say you are part of the String Gathering when reserving your room and ask for the special room rate.

When:
April 12-14, 2019 (Fri - jams start around 6 pm/Sat - jams start around 10 am/ Sun checkout)

Reservations:
A special room rate (Friday and Saturday night) is available. When making reservations be sure to contact the hotel directly and indicate that you are part of the "String Gathering." Also indicate if you want to be on a jam floor (3rd, 4th and 5th floor) or another floor when booking your room.

What to bring:
Your instruments (of course), snacks and/or beverages to share, and you may want to bring a folding or camp chair (other meetings in the hotel may use a lot of chairs).

Cost:
There is no charge for attending the actual event---reserve your room directly with the Clarion Hotel.

It looks like a lot of fun even though I would be SERIOUSLY outnumbered! Only one woman noted in the entire video - YIKES! Even so, it looks like a good time is being had by all....

There are plenty of women who attend this event, including mandolin players! Everybody is on equal ground in the music, no matter the background, gender, or experience level.

Hi--Here is the schedule for the specific jams and workshops (the old time jams will be going on non-stop).

Friday evening:
> Gypsy swing 7:00pm-9:00pm, 5th floor suite
> Carter family style songs and ballads jam, 7:00-8:30: 4th floor end of hallway

> Saturday:
> Old-time Slow Jam: 10:00am-11:30 am, 5th floor suite
> Beginner's Bluegrass: 1:00pm-2:30 pm, 5th floor suite
> Cajun jam: 2:00-3:30pm, 4th floor end of hallway (near suite)
> Carter family style songs and ballads: 3:00-4:30pm, 5th floor end of hallway

> Saturday evening:
> Irish session: 7:00pm-9:00pm 4th floor suite
