I received an invitation to show my instruments at this gathering in Burnsville NC.
Has anyone here ever been to this show? Just wondering how big a turnout they get.
The host is Jay Lichty.
Any opinions welcome.. Thanks

I was invited to exhibit, but we're going to be in Ireland this summer. Jay Lichty is a beast of a builder and a very nice guy. Think Skip Kelly, but for guitars and ukuleles. This is the first show, so nobody has been to one yet. Seems well organized from what I can tell, but the proof is in whether people show up or not.
This is the first year.
If they would host it in Asheville, we get a minimum of 30,000 tourists per day, every one in the country likes to visit, and the show would be packed; you'd have a very good likelihood of selling product and making it worth your while as a business decision.
Instead, they are insisting on it being a Burnsville specific event, a very small town 50 miles away that gets maybe 150 people on a good weekend....a weak formula for success....
Thanks Marty and James. I still may make it. Something to think of anyhow.

I'm planning to attend the gathering. I'll be in the area then and look forward to seeing all the beautiful instruments on display. I hope it is well attended and successful. I think it's really a plus that they have Kaki King performing.
I'm going and taking a luthier friend. It looks like ti will be fun. I'm looking forward to meeting Eddie Blevins and seeing his mandolins first hand. Jay Licthy has taken lessons in the adult JAM program where my wife and I both teach.
I'd travel a fair distance to see a bunch of fine instruments, but that's a bit too far for me.
