Default Heads up - My Tune-A-Week project over in the Videos subforum

Just wanted to give a heads up that I embarked on a 2019 Tune-A-Week project and have been posting the videos over in the Videos, Pictures and Soundfiles subforum. Initially I intended to do this as a tenor banjo project - I was worried that I'd neglect my tenor banjo what with all the time I've been spending with my awesome Girouard oval A, but then decided that if I had the camera set up I may as well do a version of the tunes on the mandolin as well. I reckon it'll be a great way to listen back at how the Girouard's sound develops over time too - I think it sounds GREAT in the video below! Here's this week's tune (week 6), a reel called "Donald Blue":

    2018 Girouard Concert oval A
    2015 JP "Whitechapel" tenor banjo
    2018 Frank Tate tenor guitar
    1969 Martin 00-18

Jill that sounds great! I like how you're throwing in occasional lower-pitched harmony, or drones. That's something I tend to forget about, looking for "internal" double stops in a melody line, and forgetting there are lower pitched strings I can use below that.

Thanks! I always tend to forget too, and via taking tenor banjo lessons with Angela Usher via Skype recently I've rediscovered using those lower pitched notes.

Really good...nice bounce in the rhythm. That mandolin really sounds fabulous.

Great tune, great instrument and great playing here, Jill. Lovely idea for a project too.
I'm playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order. - Eric Morecambe
