Default Looking for some info about a Maurer mandolin

    Hello,

Trying to find out some information about a Maurer mandolin that we picked up recently. I have found a few that look very similar online, but I figured I should post here to see if someone with more knowledge on the subject might be able to help out.

As far as any notable markings on the instrument, the inside is stamped "Maurer Trade Mark", and the serial number is 33549 (the first number looks somewhat illegible, might be 83549, but the few I have seen that look similar have serials around the 3xxxx range which makes me lean more towards it being 33549).

Thank You in advance for Your help, I appreciate it!

    -Mike

Fair play to you. Nice mandolin.
I have a reputation around here as being a "doubting Thomas" in regards to the knee-jerk Larson Brothers attributions to certain label mandolins, Mauer among them.
    This is a Larson.
    Muy coolioso.

That's a very nice one. It is an upper-line model. According to Hartman's book, 33549 would have been made circa 1927.
These mandolins will make Martin flat backs run away with their tails between their legs.

No doubt that this one sounds good....The Martin Style C models have spruce tops and rosewood backs, too, and sound great. It's an unbeatable combination to my ear.

Thank You all for the replies, this is just the kind of info I was looking for. I had a feeling it might have been a Larson, and had a rough idea of the approximate year of manufacture, but since I am not too well-versed on the subject I wanted to see what others thought.

    I appreciate the help!

Many similarities to my Larson-build Stahl mandola.

    I would second the attribution.

No question on this one, Allen! Dead on beaut!

Can you post some pix of your mandola just for comps?
