    Default Cover of Bush/Thile Brilliancy

Thought I would share one I just got done recording. I did a transcription of Sam and Chris' version (which is floating around on the Cafe) and wanted to try and get a video of it. Thank goodness the mandolin stayed in tune long enough..

    As always thanks for watching!

Fantastic Jake! I think you may have transcribed the appropriate head bobs too...

Wow, that was great, nice playing, and amazing tone. Thanks for sharing.

I'll still work on this tune, advisedly. . .

Nice work! How long did it take you to work out the high part, and did you have to make a recording of the main part and play along with it (stopping as necessary) to work it out?

I transcribed the high part a year ago and kind of learned it playing along with Sam Bush and Chris Thile. That was sort of what this arrangement was based off of for the most part. I made this video in hopes that it would force me to really nail the high part... The video took me maybe an hour or so to record and I probably had 4 solid hours of working it up. Hope that answers your question!

I am playing my 2017 Nugget mandolin, been really loving it! Mike Kemnitzer builds some of my favorite mandolins (Joe Walsh’s A-style and one of Mike’s bench copy Loar comes to mind). One of the nicest people you’ll meet too.
