Default Boot lace strap - how to tie to end pin?

For those of you that use a rawhide or leather boot lace for a strap, how do you tie it to the end pin? especially if it is a small one. Thanks.

I just tie a noose(slipknot) then pull it tight. If you want to get fancy loop it around three or four times.

A simple slip knot does the trick.

I use two half hitches, it will slip and stay tight. Easy knot to tie and untie.

Yeah but, a real live noose with all 10 or 12 wraps, when done in miniature w/ leather boot lace, besides working real well seems to have just the right combination of macabre and... cute!

I too thought that a full blown noose was just right. And it does work well.

A word of warning though - I used one of these for a while on a new instrument with ivoroid binding and it ended up leaving a reddish tint on one edge of my new, perfect binding from the dye in the bootlace I used.

Yeah I use a hangman's noose knot on each end. It is a bit of a pain to tie as custom requires it to have thirteen turns, but it works great. Check out Sam Bush's photo on Glamour and Grits or Late as Usual , you will see Hoss has one. R/

A wooden bead from a craft store..Pass the rawhide through and then back to make a loop. Click image for larger version.

My Bailey strap has a round leather disc that is a very tight fit. Very elegant solution. Be aware, the whole leather lace doesn't have to disappear behind the strap button, just enough to sit solidly in the groove.

If you can tie and hangman's noose, this should work well at the tail butt, though I've had no problems with a simple slip knot (heeding above finish warning). For the loop end, I use a retraced figure eight knot, which sounds complicated, but it's a simple and self-tightening knot used in climbing and rescue. This gives you a very fixed loop.
