    Default Mystery Buzz Question

    Hi,

I have been experiencing a very specific buzz on my Taran mandolin over the last few days. It only happens when fretting both A strings at the second fret.

My limited experience tells me that the problem might be the third fret is the cause. Does that sound right?

The mandolin has a flat fretboard, so it does seem strange that there is no issue on either the D or E stings when fretting at the second fret.

If it does not clear up over the next week, I'll take it to Rory the maker of the instrument for him to look at as he's always been very helpful.

    Regards,

You would check the frets first, but it can be any number of things... Relief, action, a sympathetic buzz...
