Thread: string gauges for 22.5 inch 5 string tenor tuned CGDAE

Default string gauges for 22.5 inch 5 string tenor tuned CGDAE

So I've just bought one of the Quincy 3/4 sized T type guitars with the idea of removing the low E string and changing the strings to have a 5 stringed tenor guitar tuned in octave mandolin tuning with a low C.

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction for which string gauges to try out
(on guitar i normally play .009s so i'd prefer something relatively slinky if possible.)

    Thanks

12p 18w 30w 45w for the GDAE but the low C is differcult! You can try .65 but you might not get the sound you want until you get into the .70s

the set I have for CGDA tuning for my acoustic tenor is 10 14 22w 32w, I thought GDAE sets were just CGDA sets with the C removed and a high e added, I guess GDAE sets are an octave lower? in which case i'd probably be looking for a set with a high e, maybe a 0.008 gauge for the high e?
