Visited with Michael Heiden yesterday in Creston B.C. who had ordered a set of Rubner
tuners for me.
The existing tuners gave me problems, I always spend a long time tuning and re-tuning,I did put graphite in the nut slots so the strings wouldnt bind, to no avail.
Drove up to Creston from Cranbrook, about a 1.5 hr drive (I have visited with Michael many times) initialy just to drop of the mandolin, however, when I got there Michael told me
that if I could wait about 3 hrs, I could take the mandolin home, saving me another trip.
Had a very pleasant time while Michael replaced the tuners on my mandolin and looked at his mandolins at the various stages of completion and 2 mandolins completed ready to go, one of them was a Heritage model, his top of the line, what a beautiful mandolin (have to win the lotto tonight and then have to get good enough to play it).
Arrived home with the mandolin and of course tried the Rubner tuners right away, what a difference , the Rubners are smooth and precise, no jerky movements , a pleasure to use.
Michael is always a pleasure to visit with and he is an incredible Luthier.
