Default Funny names for Celtic bands

Just listening to the radio today in the workshop - there was an Irish band from Brisbane called "Asleep at the reel" Great name. Then I remembered a Scottish band called "The Jimmy Shandrix experience."

Can anyone remember any more funny ones?

How about Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Trashcan Sinatras or Reindeer Section?

Plus Glasvegas and Second Hand Marching Band.

I used to be in the Texas Chainsaw Ceili band, if that counts.

Here is the joke I think "Socks in the frying pan" comes from:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaQCj3-IAo8

He takes a while to get to the punchline as its a bit of a long story, but it starts around 6.45. It is "blue" so not for everyone. Mind, he's got a really strong Liverpool accent, so there is a good chance a few of you won't understand him. Funny bloke.

I worked offshore briefly with a guy from Deaf Shepherd when they were as yet unknown.

We tried to have a session in the laundry but the background noise (which you're not really aware of when you're used to it) pretty much cancelled out every tone on the mandolin.

He fared better with his flute.

Jimmy Shandrix Experience was/is PA player Sandy Brechin.

Dare I mention Aberdeen band Iron Broo, "the broo" being Scottish slang for social security/dole, as in "bureau", and Irn Bru™ being a well-known Scottish hangover cure.

This really only works very locally, but you might get it Bren.

There is a mountain in Ross-shire called Ben Wyvis, and at one time there was talk of a ski development there, but it never got off the ground.
Anyway, some pals of mine were called Ben Wyvis and the Last Resort.

There is a good duo from Orkney called Saltfishforty (very good mandolin and mandola from Brian Cromarty), whose name apparently derives from 'Salt fish for tea'.
