Not sure about the F but the Fantasma looks like redwood....

Mr. Ken, those are two beautiful instruments!

For the Fantasma the neck and headstock are different to the Silverangel Econo also the tuners arrangement differs. These are not evenly spaced and are not symmetrical like the standard Econo.Any comments on this observation.Ken may like to expand and explain why the difference .My preference on the Fantamsa would be to retain the same headstock as the Econo. Then again the architecture may be to enhance the sound of the SA.

Ken does some nice work. I am saving my pennies. I wonder if the head stock shape can be changed? That upswept head stock on the A model is nice, but I tend to like a more traditional head stock. Still, saving my pennies.

Yes, of course it can be changed. It's just part of the Fantasma design.

I've seen at least three different headstock designs on SA A style mandolins. Mine has the lovely Silverangel script logo I doubt I could live without on a Silverangel.

Got my new 2019 Silverangel a week ago. I LOVE it. And it was truly a pleasure working with Mr. Ken Ratcliff to obtain it. He is so easy to work with – in fact wonderful. My new mandolin’s an econo A model, and it's got a 150 year-old redwood top, and a two piece sugar maple back. Dreamy Rubner tuners, cast tailpiece, Ratcliff ebony bridge and radius rosewood fingerboard. It’s so beautiful with an oil varnish, high gloss finish. It is tone bar-braced. It’s got such a sweet, woody sound. It's so easy to play; my hammer ons constantly surprise me. Clearly it's the mandolin! I told Ken if there’s a forest fire in my area, I’m getting my family out and grabbing my Silverangel as I’m running out the door.

They certainly are easy to play. A friend has a Pava we've passed back and forth with my Silverangel, and just the same with an MT comparison, we concluded equal but different. Those old redwood tops Ken has sound really good.

I paid used about the same as the new Econo A's go for. Mine is gently distressed and fully bound, and the Silverangel script logo inlayed on the headstock is something. Either way an exceptional value for someone looking for a warm tone.
