Thread: Who played

    Default Who played

Who played mandolin in their backyard, or would have considered it, today?

A rather breezy 58 degrees in San Jose, but I found a sheltered sunny bench for an hour this morning. Let's hear from you Floridians, Hawaiians, and Arizonans out there.

    Flip side, no snowmen.

It's 22 and snowing in Bozeman. Here's my back yard. The tire hold logs for splitting for the fireplace.Click image for larger version.

Here too, won't be playing out in the yard for months unless something really weird happens with the weather. Not out of the realm of probability these days tho.

It's a somewhat breezy 38-degrees outside. I missed Christmas with my family and I have been out of work for a week with a very bad cold . . . .

It's pretty much a no-brainer to figure out my answer, huh?

Lower 40s and rainy where I am south of Seattle. A good day to stay in, drink coffee and play some tunes!

Blowing pretty hard down here for the past few days, but the temperature is nice and rain is intermittent so a handful of us had an impromptu jam on the deck at the neighborhood Bait 'n' Brew.

Mid 50's and rainy in GA,... it was really nice yesterday (no rain), but wifey and I decided to add French doors onto the back deck, so I spent the day removing brick and cutting a hole in the side of the house. I'm off work between Christmas and New Year so it seemed like a good opportunity to do a project.

So no,... no backyard mandolinin' for me yesterday

Rain, freezing rain, snow, ice pellets....we get every kind of weather anyone could ask for right here in Canada.
I have two mandos out in the basement. Keepin the woodstove fired, foolin around with “sawmill tuning” (GDGD) on the S8 while playing normal stuff like Clarinet Polka in Bb and other delights on the trusty 505. Every time one of my friends is supposed to have a jam, they cancel it because “our road is inaccessible” or some unlikely story like that. Anyway I have the flu.
Haven’t gone farther than the woodshed since beloved better half asked me to do the grocery shopping on Christmas Eve afternoon...all in all a pretty sucessful Christmas week!
Edit: Just as I posted this, got another “jam cancelled” email...we know how to party in the soggy North country!

It was raining and in the low 30's on Thursday, so even if I wanted to, wouldn't have played outside. Do have a set of fingerless gloves, so can do it if needed.
