Default Janice Burns & Jon Doran play haugebonden

Sorry this is not on Youtube, but those of you with Facebook may like this version of an old Norwegian Christmas folk song featuring mando, bouzouki and hardingfele:

The song is about haugebonden, a gnome-creature in Norwegian folklore. The name haugebonden means the Mound-farmer, in other words, the farmer who lives in the mound near or on that farm. It is supposed to be the first person who raised the farm long time ago.
He helps the current farmer on the farm by caring for the animals, but in return one has to give certain sacrifices, porridge especially, in certain stories also ale is mentioned and in general good traditional norwegian food used to celebrate special occasions. The food has to be placed on a certain (holy) tree in the area near where the haugebonden lives, or in the barn.
