Thread: F4 body depth

    Smile F4 body depth

Can anyone confirm if the body depth on an old Gibson F4 would be the same as say an average F5 ?

    Thanks to anyone who replies.

    Just compared a '23 F4 with a '24 F5: same depth.

Many years ago, I measured four F-4's made between 1911 and 1924. The body dimensions varied slightly. No two shared exactly the same measurements.

Absolutely, moreover, the body depth/rim height even varies in one instrument. But they shot for the same dimensions (e.g. rim height between bindings) on F4 and F5 models. I believe that was the OP's question.

Thanks for replies folks. I'm having an F4 built and just wondered so my mind is at rest now.
