Thread: Is this flatiron performer made in USA or Pac Rim?

Default Is this flatiron performer made in USA or Pac Rim?

I have an opportunity to pick up a flatiron performer A on a trade locally.

First digit of the 8 digit serial is a 9, so it could be 99, or 09 (I think)

Is this bad boy made in US or Overseas? Fleur De Lis appears to be the early style, but I'm being cautious.

Made in Nashville during the Charlie Derrington era 1999-2001. It was made (labeled) 08/18/1999 and was the 4th mandolin labeled that day. They can be very good mandolins, I have owned 3 Preformers and one Festival from the some time period. The nut can range from about an inch to 1 1/8". They have flat fretboards and medium sized frets. Good luck

FYI the only Flatirons made overseas (China) were F styles. Bad decision on Gibson’s part. They are pretty easy to spot with a very shiny dipped in plastic finish. Any A styles would be USA.

it was given to him 15 years ago, and he never learned how to play. He just wanted it gone. I told him the price was "pretty low" and he was fine with that. I'm also fine with it.
