Default Travelin' McCourys and the Jacob Jolliff band last night!

Great show last night in Portland with the Travelin' McCourys who were incredible as usual. The big surprise (for me anyway) was the opener, the Jacob Jolliff band with Jacob on mandolin, Stash Wyslouch on guitar and virtuoso Alex Hargreaves on fiddle. Really interesting original compositions and innovative playing. You may already know all about them, but check 'em out if you get a chance. I attached a pic of the encore. Good stuff

Stash Wyslouch freed my mind on what a bluegrass break could be. Jacob Jolliff is a heck of a player as well. I really enjoyed those guys and it was a great show.

Stash was awesome and really pushed the boundaries. Punkgrass? Avantgrass?

That was a great show, especially the last encore with Joliff and Hargreaves joining in - Ronnie seems to play with more energy when he has some competition on stage with him!
What's the deal on Ronnie's around-the-neck strap? How does it attach, and is it an ergonomic improvement? I'm always looking for ways to save my body undue stress.

I've seen Grisman using a sax-style strap (or Willie Nelson-style, if you prefer). Was it something like that? I'm also intrigued by the concept. I've been experimenting with the over-the-shoulder Monroe style in an attempt to alleviate neck issues.

As we were leaving the show last night we were wishing we'd got a picture of Ronnie and Jake together--so thanks a million for posting. There's a great energy between them.

Saw Alex Hargraves with Sam Reider and the Human Hands. One amazing fiddle player. Ronnie is always plays great--it's been too long since I've seen him play.

Sounds like it was a great show. Was Jake on his Gilchrist?

Great show. Loved when he had Jacob up for Baltimore Johnny. Jacob's band seems to really be gelling.

Jake Jolliff plays with my upright bass teacher Max Johnson at small places here in Brooklyn when they are both off tour. I have heard them a few times up close. A great duo, and Jake just kills it on mando.
