Thread: Gibson A style percentage

    Default Gibson A style percentage

Does anyone know the rough percentages of A models produced in any one year? It would make sense more cheaper As would have been built, but I'm curious as to what percentage were A4s, etc.

I guess you can tell roughly by checking what is for sale. The other thing that interests me is how much more an A4 goes for today, percentage wise, than when it was new. Example would be if an A sold for $20 and an A4 for $60, is the price for an A 4 today the same three times the price of an A?

Prices seem to be all over the place, but the relationship seems to hold overall...

Even a rough percentage would require data collection over a significant period of time.

I will say that generally speaking, the lower A models [plain A, A-1] seem to be somewhat more common than A-4's, but A-4's are more common than A-3's.

Remember that A-2's were out of production from c. 1908 until about 1918.
