Does anyone have a really good picture of Bill's mandolin at the Country Music Hall of Fame?

"Can I have a little more talent in the monitors please?"
Wasn't his mandolin heavily damaged then pieced back together?

We have all heard about this guy who broke into Bill Monroe's house and smashed his Mandolin.
WHAT SICK INDIVIDUAL WOULD DO THAT? AND WHY?
Did he dislike Bluegrass that much? Did he have a vendetta against Bill Monroe?
Was Bill sleeping with his wife? If the guy was a thief, he would have stolen the mandolin. Were there any theories as to why the guy did it?
If I recall correctly, no one said it was necessarily a guy
May not have been a "guy"!
Ok intruder (jealous girlfriend? lol)
Were there any theories as to why the intruder did it?

It was obviously personal. Lots of theories. I don't recall any of those theories being about someone hating bluegrass. My guess would be that it was someone that had a beef with the father of bluegrass. They smashed things that he held dear. Over the years some folks have suggested they knew who it was. If Monroe knew he never told.

Read Tom Ewing's new book on Monroe for lots of new clues.
Mamacass3, how many guys do you know who are likely to break into another guy’s house just to smash something dear to him? Likely this was a wife or a girlfriend - so even “intruder” could be misleading. Mike has it right, unsolved mystery, and if Bill knew he never made it public.

I predict a very short shelf life for this discussion based on more than one comment above.

It is known for sure who smashed the two mandolins and why. But it has so far been a collective decision on the part of many not to discuss it for reasons that would be very obvious once you understand the context and why the person did it.
Everyone has passed away who was personally involved in the matter so why open old wounds just to satisfy someone's (who has no need to know anyway) curiosity? Let the sleeping dog lie.
Members of the families would tell you if they wanted you to know.
