We are very lucky to live in the same timeline as this virtuoso Chris Farley. Really Post-modern he is

Henceforth I will use this video to prove once and for all that I'm a superior mandolinist in comparison to Thile. Any other recordings, live performances, or common sense intuitions that prove otherwise should be mocked and disregarded with extreme prejudice.

I thought I was the only one to use that tuning for mandolin. Now I have to learn a new tuning.

Brilliant. I can’t wait for mr Farley’s new album.

Thanks for posting. There’s one around somehere of new grass revival which is pretty funny too.

I have a pretty healthy and ridiculous sense of humor, but I have to say I have not found these kinds of shred parody videos to be funny. Not even a smirk.

My brother, a guitar player, loves this stuff, and laughs himself into fits. I just don't get it.

They don't make me roll in the floor and howl, but I find them amusing. The first one I saw awhile back was the Tony Rice shred, and it really tickled me.

I had never heard of these shred videos. After I watched the Thile one and read some of the responses here, I decided to do an experiment. I played the video with my wife sitting next to me but not watching, just listening. As I suspected, she thought it sounded bad, but no worse than mandolin music sounds to her normally. The only thing that tipped her off to the video being a parody was the announcer saying 'Farley.' She knew that sounded wrong. She did not know the mandolin sounded wrong. Just knew his name is Thile.

Those are just too funny. The Tony Rice video was hysterical.
