I'm sure hoping we can get some more compassion, attention, and support here --

I'm a CBA member and I donated. I've also offered to loan instruments to CBA members who've lost theirs. And I gave cash to the Salvation Army for fire relief, because I believe they do a great job providing direct and useful aid to victims.

Thanks for posting this!
I don't have cash that I can send, but I do have an instrument or 2 that I could part with. Is there any way to donate one?
Thanks!
$50.00 sent via Mandolin Cafe as support for their efforts.

I made a contribution, and also I can loan a mandolin if I knew who to contact.
I just looked around my music room and imagined loosing everything. I think I need to contribute more.
I've got a squareneck reso too, especially for a working musician.

I e mailed Gryphon the link and got a reply they were going to add it to their e mail newsletters, I don't believe because of me, they'd seen it on Facebook. Perhaps others could request their local shops to do the same.

Stopped by and made a donation. Fire has got to be one of the most heart breaking things I can think of.
Adam
So far, this fire has taken down nearly 10,000 homes and over 200 square miles of forest, and it's only 40% contained after a week. We already have 63 confirmed fatalities, but over 600 people are still officially missing. Survivors haven't just lost their homes and possessions, but in many cases, their livelihoods. So, those CBA donations are extremely valuable.
The air in the entire Bay Area now ranges from unhealthy to hazardous, and San Francisco is about 150 miles from the fire zone. So, you can imagine what it is like for those living and working near the fire zone.

My daughter in Menlo Park (South of SF) had her kid's school closed. She took them to the park in Monterey for not good but decent air quality. It is certainly the worst I've seen it in San Jose.
A friend had surgery postponed due to poor air quality. Go outside and it is as quiet as Superbowl Sunday on the street. I was on the coast last night, and though it was better, the sea breeze had a harsh smell to it. But this is a minor inconvenience compared to the devastation those in the fire zone have experienced.
But back to the task at hand. I just went through a couple of weeks where surgery interrupted my ability to play. I wasn't mentally ok until I could pick up a mandolin and noodle around a bit. Now think of those poor folks who have nothing and think about having something to play music on. Now kick in a few bucks. Doesn't have to be much. It all adds up.

According to the info on this page:

.... I should be able to send a contribution via Paypal (where all my online cash is). But I can't figure out how to do it.... Does anyone know? TIA.

Thank you, Steve! I hadn't wanted to donate to anything there since back when GFM didn't accept Paypal, so I searched directly for the "Making a Donation" page first to see if they took it yet, rather than actually trying to do it. Duh!

I donated too. And I'd like to donate an old but playable mandolin. Anyone got a suggestion how? I'm in the Bay Area.
Just donated. While food and shelter might be a more immediate need, sometime just just strumming a chord or picking a tune can make the world seem right for short time. Good luck with the campaign and recovery. Jim

A very worthy effort - supported up in North Carolina and shared on FaceBook.
CalFire says that nearly 14,000 residences were lost, along with another 5,000 non-residential buildings in the 240 square mile fire zone. The good news is that a couple days of rain here helped restore air quality in the San Francisco Bay Area and enabled the fire crews to finally fully contain the fire last night. Unfortunately, the confirmed death toll is now 85, and there are still 250 people unaccounted for, over two weeks since the fire began. So, all the help helps!

You might contact Randy January at the CBA kids lending library about donating instruments to the library. E-mail address at the bottom of their page. https://www.cbaweb.org/Learning/LendingLibrary

Hopefully he has not been affected by the fires.
Also pinning this discussion until the campaign ends.
In a world full of CyberMondays, Black Fridays, this and that sales, I hope those of you that can help will consider. And please share this information wherever you can online, with our thanks.

When we were evacuated, I loaded up my truck with my best guitars, amps, and mandolins. I remember lamenting that I had left my PRS Custom 22, fortunately all was ok and the fire had just missed us. Thanks to Law enforcement who kept the scum from looting, I realized I wouldn't leave it again. Some people looked at my truck and asked, "really?" The instruments and the animals, that's what mattered to me. Scary stuff, but the love and kindness of strangers made the ordeal much more pleasant. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for those people and churches that helped us. The best of humanity is often witnessed in the worst of circumstances.
Blessings
