These are the two I recommend:
    Denver Folklore Center
    Olde Town Pickn Parlor
    Have fun!

If you go to the Denver Folklore Center, might be worth stopping by Victor Guitar which is close by. Primarily guitars (duh), but sometimes has a few mandolins on consignment.

I stopped into Olde Town Pickin Parlor a few weeks ago on a trip to Denver and thought their mandolin selection was pretty boring. A handful of new mid-range Collings and a couple Gibson A mandos from the teens. Arvada is a long ride from downtown Denver.

Maybe you missed the wall near the banjos and resonator guitars?

Behind the counter they have new Collings, usually 2 or 3 MTs, 2 or 3 MT2s, and a few MFs.When I was in last week, they also had 3 used Webers, including a nice 2 point. A teens Gibson oval and a 30s one. A 40s A-50, and a 50s EM-150.
On the wall near the banjos, a Pete Coombe oval, Kentucky KM-1500, Heiss F5, Krishot A5, Atkinson 2pt, and a bunch of Eastmans of various models. And a Kentucky KM-250.

I highly suggest checking them out.

I was totally going to suggest Denver Folklore Center and Olde Town Pickn Parlor, but colorado_al beat me to it. He's right, the more interesting mandolins at Olde Town Pickin' Parlor are on the wall behind the banjos, not behind the counter. I played that Peter Coombe that Al brags about a couple of weeks ago, and it's very nice, though out of my price range.

Neither place is really close or convenient to downtown Denver, but the suggestion to visit Victor Guitars if you're down by the Folklore Center is a good one. Edward Dick is the owner and he's an outstanding luthier, and inventor of the banjola, which he will custom build for you. I've also worked with Tom Hunter-Crump there and he worked some magic for me on a weird instrument, keeping my small budget in mind. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Used to be a third really great music store called Acoustic Music Revival, but the economy drove it out of business in 2011. So the two listed by Al are your best bets in Denver.

(Not Denver but...) Shout out to the Telluride Music Company, Hart's Music in GJ (largest selection of Martin guitars I've ever seen), and Wildwood Guitars in Louisville (suburb of Denver.)
