That's scary even on that old Gibson that has a heel crack and needs a neck set!

I guess they didn’t know it was supposed to be installed on the other side.

That is a thing of beauty. I can't tell from the photo. Is it just the one screw or is there something else behind that metal plate? If the former then it could be a lot worse. Unscrew and fill the hole and fix the heel crack and whatever else. Or are there other examples of reptile dentistry on this mandolin?

That's horrific !!. It's on a par with the m***n who screwed an almost dinner plate sized Bass guitar strap button to the lower part of my Ellis "A" style neck. It stuck out so far that it was almost impossible for me to play above the 12th fret, which i do a lot when improvising.

Dusty - If you have any more pics. like that - you keep 'em buddy !!,

Hi Ray - The pic. link worked fine - but here's the pic. Unbelieveable ,but still neater than a screwed on bracket !.

Put that on the other side of the heel,& you'd have the same effect as the Bass guitar strap pin on my Ellis. It stuck out almost as much !,

You can buy the hooks at Ikea in a variety of colours and the best way to attach them is with Photoshop!
