That’s a great Friday fireball! I don’t think there is a better representation of two guys having more fun playing together than that. Not saying there aren’t more but, that just looks like they were simply having a great time! The natural “ham” which Jethro cultivated for his entire performing life gives him such a relaxed stage presence just makes me smile!

Jethro and Steve were great together. There used to be a video from the same concert of them playing Tico Tico that really showed how much fun they were having.

Yes, that is great. Fun, indeed.
Jethro was "bringing it". He knew it, Goodman knew it, & everyone there knew it.
    Long live the great one.

Jethro had incredible taste. As a guitar mandolin duet Jethro could have played a nice chop, or some tremolo, or some melodic licks for back up. Nope. Jethro played Jethro. Exceptional right hand, exceptional left hand, exceptional phrasing and timing. A true artiste!

    Thanks for posting that.
Though there are many fine players, Jethro remains my favorite mandolinist.

That brings back memories. My wife and I met in the basement of Hogeye Music in Evanston, IL, in 1981. We were taking mandolin lessons there from Dave Neidig. In 1982, as we were approaching our wedding date, we had to discontinue the lessons for some now forgotten reason; I think Dave was changing careers maybe. Anyway, towards the end Dave said "You have to have at least one lesson from Jethro". So he arranged for the two of us to have a "group" lesson. As I remember, Jethro was very kind to us low-level players, and basically played for a half hour. My jaw was on the floor the whole time. We haven't done much with our mandolins over the last few years, but they brought us together so I'm not complaining.
Steve Goodman was quite a musician. I had the pleasure of seeing him in a small venue in Rockford, IL (Charlotte's Web), when I was in college. He could play that guitar and make it look like it was no big deal.
    Thanks for that video!
    Steve
