I agree Don. This batch of F5's is coming together nicely. The grain in the Sitka from the old bridge is sweet and that wood has been seasoning for decades. The middle one in the bottom row is Adirondack and the other four are from the bridge. Mine is the bottom right in both photos. After hearing the first batch using that Sitka, Matt went back and bought all the remaining top sets from that stash, so he'll have that available for your mandolin and many batches to come it looks like...

Stopped by Matt's shop today to see the progress on the upcoming batch of F5's and have Matt do some custom neck shaping on mine. They look great and the tops ring like a bell. Click image for larger version.

I like the new logo vs the big R, and the inlay looks phenomenal!

Yes, they are on tour now. Looks like they are hitting west coast then east coast before going overseas.

Just picked up my F5 from Matt Ruhland today and shared a celebratory toast. Will be interested to hear from the owners of the other 4 mandolins in this batch, but from my perspective, this is one of the best mandolins I've ever played and I've got a couple good ones. Magnificent tone even after just 24 hours with strings on it. Haven't been able to put it down. I'll post a good sound clip soon as my fingers stop hurting from 2 hours of nonstop picking. Beautiful F5 Evan, Matt congrats!
I arrived in Nashville last night. Had a chance to compare another F5 from this batch with many wonderful Mando's at Carter's today. All I can say, is very well done Mr Ruhland.
