Default Ricky Skaggs’ Tuning for “Daniel Prayed”

Howdy y’all, I’ve searched on here and on Google in general a good bit and can’t seem to find an answer, but do any of y’all know what tuning Ricky Skaggs uses for the song Daniel Prayed when he plays and sings with Patty Loveless? It’s a song I really want to learn, but playing it in regular tuning like The Isaacs, and even like Ricky Skaggs did a long time ago, it just doesn’t sound as good as the version of him with Patty Loveless!
    Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure he's tuning differently. Sounds like he's hitting a variant of D7 at the end of his break, maybe 5-4-0-x or 5-4-3-x. Maybe.

(I've wondered the same for a while.)

That's "Get Up John" tuning, by my ears, or a close variation. For reference, listen to Ricky Skaggs playing Get Up John or Skip Gorman's version

The tuning is: F#A DD AA AD. Very fun!

I knew that Amanda couldn't stand it if I gave a dumb answer! Thanks Amanda.

Addendum: Okay, I just tried it. (I think the G string tuning is really AF#)
Ricky's cool notes seem to be on the 3rd fret, on the 4th string for the low tones and then on the 1st string for the high part of the break. Sounds good.

    Seriously, thanks Amanda.

Thank you! I finally tuned it up in that tuning, I have never done that tuning before, it sounds like it to me with the exception of one note in the intro where he starts on the lower bass note and slides it up, maybe he is only getting one of the two notes by coming from the mandolin to away from it with the pick to get that low note. I will start practicing on this more now, and it is nice that it is the same tuning as Get Up John, it makes it easier having one less thing to learn LOL
