Ever seen one of these? It has Gibson strings, so it must be valuable. Doesn't look like much to me, but what do I know. I definitely wouldn't have traded a Gibby for it.

I think I owned one of these back in the '70's; at least it was from Red Lion PA. Faux figure painted on the maple neck, run-of-the-mill sound, paid $500 for it and sold it for about the same amount to someone who took half the strings off, and played it like a ukulele. That was when I had an F-2 and "hadda have an F-5!" So later, I traded the F-2 on an F-5.

In a stunning turn, the ad has been pulled after less than one day. Did he get his asking price? Did he dump it on the first responder? Did he change his mind and pull the offer? Hmmm...

Cost me about $250; replacement tuners, original (I guess) bridge, solid woods. I'm guessing 1940's.
I don't do pics, but there's nothing special about this one; I've seen dozens of them on the Cafe. It's just the mandolin I throw into the car when I'm going somewhere where there may be music to play. It sounds fine, plays well, and to me it's the perfect "utility mandolin."
