    Can anyone recommend a quality shop/luthier to do a setup in Santa Barbara, CA?

    You can go north a ways or south a ways and find luthiers that know mandolins. I don't know of anyone in Santa Barbara but truthfully, the last time I spent any time there I wasn't looking for luthiers.

    Then there is this. You might find someone in that list that knows mandolins and is local.

    I am willing to travel, can you be more specific?

    Those are two TOP luthiers with decades of experience. However, Ford (Gryphon) is in Palo Alto, and Hostetter is in Santa Cruz, so you'll have a shorter road trip finding someone in LA. McCabe’s in Santa Monica has been the longtime guitar/mando/banjo store there, so their repair shop should be able to do a great set-up for you. There may also be somewhere or someone out in the Valley or west of there, whom the SoCal players can recommend.

    I had my Breedlove set up at Jensens music a couple years ago. Plays real nice now.
