I think the biggest difference is that the 815 has plastic binding, as do all the rest of their models, while the 915 has wooden binding. AFAIK they don’t make the 915 any more. I played one once, and I thought it was a serious mandolin. Probably one of the best if not the best in the shop that particular day. It had nice flamey maple binding. Very classy looking.

I think that Eastman is going to reintroduce the 915...No guarantee, but it makes sense if there are some additional features added...Seems like a magnificent mandolin...I have one of their E series guitars(had 2 at one time) and they make a very fine instrument.

915 has been reintroduced with some new specs. I haven't actually seen one yet..

In the past, the 915 was the only one with Adirondack. It did have the flamed maple binding and nicers woods (more flaming). That changed and the current 815 models also use it. New 915 will have tortoise style binding

I hope that link is accurate,as sometimes Eastman is a bit lazy with updating their web pages. If it's all true and the 915 is going to soon be available,it should be a "Killer Mando"! I have quite a few boutique and high end factory acoustic guitars, but I always shake my head in disbelief as to how damn good my Eastman E20-SS is!

On the 805/905 difference Eastman told me by email 1) Binding, 2) More select woods for the 905. Could be the same for 815/915?

I now see that the new 915's are hitting all the stores....Sheesh! They are beyond gorgeous!!

Eastman has done a fabulous job on these new mandolins.I have an Eastman E20-SS guitar and previously had another E series Eastman and know full well these guys are for real,as I have quite a few boutique builds as well....Boy do I want one of these 915's....Blond w/ tortoise bindings or maple bindings...I'll take either one...Ha!
