Re: Irish zouk + decals, good idea? (newbie)
If the decals on the fretboard are placed so that your fingers rub them when you're fretting the instrument, they will wear through in fairly short order.
A Google search on "decals for sale" yields many hits for makers of custom decals. Most seem to be for automotive use, but browsing the different sites might yield pre-made ones you could use.
Warning: decals aren't period-authentic for your medieval re-creations. Of course, neither are "Irish" bouzoukis.
