    Tom,

You may want to try and contact Northern Lights music in Littleton, NH, just south of St Jay: http://northernlightsmusic.com. They would have a better idea of actual jams. North of St Jay in the Kingdom what are referred to as jams are actually more like open mikes. They're a ton of fun but probably not what you're looking for.

There's also the Summit School in Montpelier, VT as a possible source: http://summitschool.wixsite.com/summitschool

It's a bit of a drive, but we have a bluegrass jam at the Filling Station in White River Junction.

Dont' forget to visit the weird Doggy Chapel, or whatever it's called.

We will have a car, so I'm open to anything within reason.

There are a few nice jams and other events you could explore in the area.

There is a world class old time jam at Radio Bean in Burlington every other Sunday.

Hatch 31 in Bristol has a high-energy bluegrass jam almost every Friday.

There are a few Wednesday jams in the Burlington area. There is one at a restaurant in Jericho and another at the Stone Corral brewery in Richmond. I haven't tried the Jericho jam, but I've heard great things. The Richmond jam is pretty legit.

I've vetted these jams as actual bluegrass jams. Some "bluegrass jams" in Vermont are actually Grateful Dead jams (nothing wrong with that, just not a bluegrass jam).
