I inherited this mandolin a few years ago, and admittedly I don't know too much about it. I'm more of a banjo player, so this has been sitting in its case in my closet for the last few years. I know it's an RL Givens model A3, having done a slight bit of research, but past that not much else. It seems to be in very nice shape, a few minute dings on the face, but aside from that the string action is low, the frets are in very good shape, the neck is straight, and there are no cracks or splits in the wood.
Any information anyone has on this would be greatly appreciated. I'm guessing by what I've seen that it was more than likely built in the early '90s, but again I could be completely wrong. The only thing written inside the body is "#303" in pencil. More than likely I'm going to end up selling it, as I don't have much of a use for it, and would rather it ends up in the hands of someone who will use it.
Looks great! Yes, by all means talk to Greg. Meantime, I see someone posted number 298 here with the date Jan. 15, 1983. Yours should be very close to that. (And exact date and place are probably written inside the top.)
