Thread: Repair in Asheville NC

    Default Repair in Asheville NC

We've experienced a collision with my wife's Collings MF-5 mando and the floor, resulting in a piece of scrollwork separating from the head and about a 3" crack across the f-hole. Needless to say, she is heartbroken. We've just moved to Asheville and are looking for help finding the perfect luthier to repair the damage. Thanks in advance for any help!

James Condino is a regular here, and one of the most knowledgeable and helpful people in the builders' forum. He posts here as grandcanyonminstrel. His shop is right there in Asheville. If I needed repairs and I lived anywhere near him I wouldn't bother looking elsewhere.

In addition to James Condino mentioned above, there are a few others in the Asheville area that would probably also be able to help - Randy Hughes in Fairview, Danny Bishop (Fiddle and Fret) in Fairview, Jack Dillen in Asheville, Doug Clark (builder) in Canton, and Larry Brown in Weaverville. Dream Guitars in Weaverville also has a few talented repair guys on staff. Good luck! Gill

Well, James Condino isn't answering emails or voicemail. Is Danny Bishop at Fiddle and Fret an equally skilled luthier for this type of repair? Thanks in advance! Chris

He answers his phone calls and emails in the order that they arrive, often 20+ per day, but he also turns off the phone and computer so he can get some work done!

Hope you get your repairs , I can only imagine the heartbreak. I have mine insured for such accidents, it isn't very expensive to have the extra insurance. But I would still be heartbroken if it should happen.
