This is the first mandola based on the Gibson TL model. This instrument is really sounding nice after a day of playing. Rubner tuners, EVO fret wire and a James tailpiece.

I have a person here to show it to, but it was made for inventory. It is not purchased yet.
Gary, that is some kind of fine!!! I'd love to put a pick to that!
Beautiful!

Do you have any sound files of this mandola, Gary? I’m curious if you have any sense on how it compares to a tenor lute conversion, such as the one that you completed for William Smith. I also wonder how it measures up spec-wise to “The Centaur” discovered a couple of years back at ETSU:

I see that your mandola is still available, and I am sorely tempted:

Sadly, my budget continues to be closer to this one!

Shit, if I could play like Patrick Sauber I’d have a million sound clips available. I did have the Loar copy and the new one side by side this time last year. The one I have for sale was barley two months old at the time. It sounded a little brighter than the Loar copy, but also a little cleaner. Not sure about now since it’s settled in by now.
