Les Succès Parisiens - 25 Tunes form the late 19th Century
I have written a post about a mandolin book titled "Les Succè Parisiens`in my German blog www.gezupftes.de
direkt link: Les Succès Parisiens
There's a free download of the book in this post. The book contains 25 tunes composed in the late 19th century by different composers. I am very sure that this book is public domain, but as I do not have the biographical dates of the arranger Romolo Bacchini (and of one of the composers too) I cannot post it in the Petrucci library - so I will exclusively post this in my blog for the moment. I have compiled many links to pages about the composers and the original compositions mostly from the bnf (Bibliotheque National de France) for the case you want to learn more about those composers and find other pieces composed by them.
I think that there are some interesting tunes in this collection - maybe you like to play some of those pieces.

Re: Les Succès Parisiens - 25 Tunes form the late 19th Century
a few titles derive from mid-19th century. I play "Le Temps de Cerises" one of the most beloved songs the French love to sing. It's always puzzling how someone (like Bacchini) can lend his name to sell the sheet music but without any evidence that he actually did these "arrangements." I don't see how "Le Temps de Cerises" looks any different than the version I always play. Still, it's always good to know that another Italian is credited for arranging bourgeois line-dancing (ex. galop, gavotte) titles popular in French parlors. I'd say this collection was published in the 1890s.

Danke für die Musik! Den Blog kannte ich noch nicht.
Isn't it great how modern technology is helping to keep this old music alive?
