I’ve joined the club (and newish to the forum as well). Bog cedar top. Sinker mahogany back and sides that is under way. Tried to attach some photos - hopefully it works!

    Nice cpd!

I just hashed out most of the details with Max. Port orford cedar top, black finish, abalone rosette around the oval hole, abalone fret markers. Engraved James tailpiece. I can't wait!

Sounds great,Gary. Here is an updated picture. The tailpiece will be brass, this was just to string it up temporarily.

    Jill-

How did you adjust from the MT neck to the Girouard? How close are they in shape? They call it a soft V, Collings a rounded V. Just curious.

I found the adjustment very easy - I was never 100% happy with the neck on the Collings - the combo of the neck shape and nut width didn't really feel comfortable for me, whereas the Girouard felt comfortable from the get-go. The Girouard has more of a V than the Collings did and for me that works well.

Hey Jill, how does Janey Mack like the tone of the newest member of the family?? My cat purrs louder when i play his favorite instrument. That’s how i can tell!

Has anyone played the 10 string fan fret Girouard? That’s what my body craves.

Janey Mack is a very musical creature - sometimes breaking out into song even!

You will have to wait as my order for a Girouard F4 PO top was placed before yours !

That's one of the most beautiful Girouards that I've yet seen!

And you know the tone will be there.

Congrats and play in good health. And please record a vid if you are willing and able.

When is yours scheduled for Yankees? Mine will be with non-figured PO, as I am covering it up with black, so I don't think the Port Orford cedar is a bottleneck for me. I will see Max in April at Mandolin Camp North, and perhaps will get to hear David's Girouard.

    Ah, anticipation!

. I was kidding with you Gary ! Yes, my new Girouard F4 was ordered before you ordered your A model but A models are completed before Max starts on F models. When I placed the order Max told me it would be late 2019 before completion and in no hurry as I have an A oval Girouard here at home ! Mine will have the PO top and figured similar to Jill’s . You will love ❤️ your new Girouard !

Can't believe it is being worked on, not too much longer till it is completed. The other week Max sent some pictures of the roughed out back and top.

It will have abalone fret markers, headstock script, and rosette, will look nice with the triple laminate binding on the black gloss body. Rubner tuners with ebony buttons, Allen MR2 satin Rhodium tailpiece, and evo frets.

I found a used one the other week being sold in a "local" store and drove an hour or so to check it out. It was everything everyone says they are. Well made, good sounding and a piece of art.

I've been a Girouard mandola guy since 2013. My wife and I did an east coast visit last summer and had a chance to catch up with Max and Lori for a workshop visit and lunch. They are really great people, and their work is fantastic. Someday I'll own a Girouard F9, but until then, I'll have to make do with this one...
