    Default Rigel A+ Strings

I need to replace the strings on a Rigel A+. The D strings are dead. There were a couple of older threads on the Cafe but they are so old that many of the recommended strings are no longer produced. Heck, some of the companies are out of business.

So, in 2018, anyone have strings recommendations?

I'm a big fan of Elixir Nano coated strings. I use the medium gauge set a lot. They have a bright tone, the coating allows them to keep a smooth, non-gritty feel, and if you remember to give them a clean with something like FastFret at the end of every day, they last for months.

I've recently tried D'Addario Flatwounds EFW74 strings, and I like them a lot, so much so that they might become my new first choice.

fwiw, I use JT 74s on mine and it sound and plays nicely.

Frankly, theres nothing special about the type of strings rigels use.
I imagine anything recommended was simply reciprocal marketing.

    use what you like.
    for bigger sound, JT 75s.

I agree that coated strings might be a boon if you use the piezo. ie plug the rigel in. will help to reduce string noise.
