Default Don Kawalek Mandolin Building Workshop, March 25-30, 2018

If you've followed these and other discussion forums related to mando building workshops over the years you know that Don Kawalek's classes have gotten rave reviews. If you're interested but have been putting it off for years like I did, you might want to make this a priority. I signed up for the March workshop and I'm glad I did since this might be Don's last. Here's a link for more info: https://donkawalek.com/workshops/

Don't I wish! I have his OM kit, and the attention to detail is everything one could want.

Could we get more feedback on this workshop? It sounds like fun.

ID:	164178I went to Don’s workshop and would highly recommend it. I had zero carpentry skills but with Don’s help came home with a really great sounding mandolin. I learned enough to start building on my own. You start out with a kit and by the end of the workshop you have a completed mandolin ready for finish.

Sterling - I've been to several of Don's camps and enjoyed every one - my first had about twenty people attending and Don was running around like a crazy guy trying to make sure everyone went home with something that was playable. His kits have evolved and improved over time (my first build was in 2003) to the point where his current kits are really nice flat top mandolins. For my last camp I took four good friends down to Appomattox and we had a great time. If you are considering going - I'd recommend it, you wont regret it and Don will do everything he can to make sure you end up with an instrument you can be proud of.

Well, I did it. I signed up today to make an octave mandolin during this workshop at the end of March. Yikes! I talked to Don two days ago and he was very encouraging. There are 4 people signed up as of today January, 23.

I attended one in 2001. Hard to believe it has been that long! I remember there was a dentist in the class who had attended several and had even devised his own jigs.

Will Don continue to offer kits for sale?

Have a well earned rest Don - pour yourself a large martini - oh wait!

Are you going to build instruments to order?

Hop you guys enjoyed the workshop, your builds look pretty good.
