    yes, does the Collings mandolins MTO have the same scale length as the old Gibson model mandolins from the teens and very early twenties ??? thanks, jim

    Here's half an answer:

    On my MTO, the distance between the nut and the crown of the 12th fret is exactly 6-29/32 inches. From the nut to the bridge on the G string is 13-31/32".

    Dunno about the Gibsons.

    Collings lists the scale length as 13 7/8", which is the same as most modern archtop mandolins, which are mostly based off the dimensions of the 1920's Lloyd Loar Gibson F5 mandolins.
