Soluet #2: Mill Valley Waltz - David Grisman
The second installment of the solo duets is a lovely waltz originally by David Grisman. While it appears simple, there are a lot of little grace notes and details in the sheet music that you have to be on top off to bring it to life. I kept the accompanying mandola part deliberately simple to bring out the beautiful melody.

NICE-LOVE me some Tone Poems! Did you learn that from ear or tab? Either way GREAT job. Tone Poems is what started my obsession with vintage instruments!

Thanks man, Tone Poems is one of the first mandolin albums I listened to. I bought the Mel Bay Tone Poems sheet music book and played it from that.

That is beautiful! I'm starting to look around for a mandolin. Do you mind if I ask what kind you are playing? You make it sound wonderful.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm playing a custom Lawrence K. Smith mandolin. He is a luthier here in Sydney who does amazing work. Part of the tone also comes from the Thomastik Infeld flatwound strings that I use. They are the standard for classical players.
