    Default Sam Bush Documentary

A film about SB came out a few years ago (can't remember the actual title of it). Can someone post the title, and does anyone know where I can purchase a DVD or a source for download or streaming it?

Also, if you've seen it, what did you think of it?

    Thanks!

Update: Well, I assumed it had come out, so a new query about how to see it seemed logical. However, I searched for other posts, and it seems that it has never been released.

So, unless someone has new info on its release, disregard my questions.

Sadly, the Sam Bush documentary has fallen into lawyer limbo - a place without time where copyright payments are arranged, and people who stand to make money from a successful project are guaranteed their proper dibs. Apparently it's quite time consuming. I'm sure it will be worth the wait!

Bumping this thread because "Revival: The Sam Bush Story" is scheduled for release on November 1st! I didn't know much about it until today when I saw an updated post elsewhere but it looks like folks have been waiting quite a while for this. I'm definitely planning on checking it out.

Chris / Mark - How is this documentary going to be released ?. Is it for US TV / Cinema ...?. More importantly for non-US Bluegrassers - will it be released on DVD,& 'when' ?,
    Ivan

PS - I just followed the link given by Chris,& it's '' For rent or purchase via Amazon'' - but there's no mention of it on Amazon that i can find, & 1st Nov. isn't that far away. I must assume that the 'purchase' will be via I/net download ?. So,possibly no DVD

"There's only one Sam Bush" and that sums it up most succinctly.

Of course, the movie will expand on this bedrock reality, somewhat, I am sure. I have to admit that when I bought my bluegrass tutor by Jack Tottle in 1976, there was a photo of Sam and a mention of his band- the New Grass Revival, but back in those days when the band's output would have been on albums not released in the UK, it was a while before I got my hands on some records and was blown away. Today, we take it for granted that we can access so much information and better still, we can see and hear amazing players from across the world. Interestingly, there was also a photo of Jethro Burns in the book and likewise, it took a long time to run into his music ( on a Sam Bush album) but that's something else! Finally, it is Jack Tottle's fault I use my little finger so much- he mandated it in the book and I duly obliged but nobody else seems to do this except in chords!

I couldn’t wait for the DVD. I watched it last night when I got home. So glad to se it.
The video on AMAZON is pretty remarkable. LOADED with well know musicians that tell their side of Sam Bush. Their experiences from when old and young.
Remarkable to see how He has developed as a musician over the years. And too, how he developed as a human being over the years. Repeatedly the thoughts on how he has influenced multiple musicians. I knew of some of his history, mostly from threads on here. But there is so much that I learned about his history in the different bands he has played in/with. Pretty cool how he discusses his upcoming CD release. I REALLY look forward to that. Hopefully there will be a tour supporting it to follow.
I strongly recommend watching it if you ge thte chance!

+1 Eric, besides the threads here I have sought out as many Sam interviews as I could find since I joined here. The "About Me" page in my profile hasn't changed since I joined, it reads in part: "I also have an interest in documenting information about the group, The Bluegrass Alliance (all incarnations of the previous century rather than the re-alliance group of the 2000's)." Sam had things to say about Lonnie Pearce that I've never learned in interviews before (maybe I've not read the right ones). Anyway, I learned a lot. Also, stuff about Bill Monroe. The old clips of Skaggs with Flatt and Scruggs was a joy to see again in this context, as well as the old clip of little Sierra. This is one of those music docs I'll watch again and again, and worth every penny of the purchase price for me.
