Default Maison Coucou - Sweet Georgia Brown

I first posted this to the videos forum, but I thought it might get some more interest here.

Our new band - Maison Coucou - played our first gig at The Stone Cup in Lyons, CO on 12/10/17. Had a great time!

Sounds pretty great. The violinist had some really good ideas. Do you guys play with any other jazz/gypsy jazz musicians in the Colorado area?

Violin player's name is Hannah Drollinger. She is without a doubt the best musician in our group!
We do play with other jazz players, mostly at jams. There is a monthly Gypsy jam in Denver and one in Boulder too. You can check them out at gypsyjazzdenver.com to get the schedule.
Also, a 2x monthly jam in Ft Collins. 1st and 3rd Friday of the month at 8PM at Yum Yum's near CSU.
Occasionally sit in with some other bands too.

One might think that, but Coucou means Hello in French. It's sort of like saying Youhoo. But we picked it because it also sounded a little like crazy.

I love the manouche, so when I saw your post and hear the music, I thought the group's name comes from Django's song "Coucou"...your music c'est magnifique!

It does come from the Django song. That is our 1st tune for our 2nd set.
I'll try to post a video of that, but I think my recording isn't so good for that one.

    Here's one more for you

PS- this was the first time our violin player had ever played this tune. She amazes me every time we play

Nice job Al! The band sounds good!

Hard to tell on my phone: were you playing the Franzke?

Yes that is the Franzke A5. With a Tone Gard, unamplified. That mandolin can get really loud! I prefer to not play it that hard, but the only amplification we had that day was an amp for our singer, Ashlynn.
We've got a gig on Friday where we're going to try out a shared condenser mic for guitar, violin, and mandolin, so hopefully I'll be able to play a bit softer. If you find yourself down the hill Friday, come on by. We'll be at J&L Distilling from 8-10.
