So she wants to sell a mandolin that doesn't belong to her with no photo, description or price. Heck, I guess I do too.

Whoever buys this mandolin is going to have a lifetime of bad karma
Lots of red flags. Using a work email address only—no ability to reply from home?
Isn't this against Café rules to advertise in the general forum?

Discussing an ad in the classifieds is fine unless it's your own ad.

This isn’t advertising. We’re allowed to post links to interesting ads for discussion.
This is the first time I’ve ever seen an ad with no price, no pictures, no description, and significant restrictions on when and how to to reply. Red flags? Now there’s an understatement!
Karma might not be as bad as it seems at first glance. Maybe the fiancé has a Loar and a couple of Dudes in the closet, and this one was expendable!

Many companies prohibit email access from non-company owned equipment. I don't find it strange at all, other than she does not want to use a personal email address to sell the instrument.
While it might not be a scam, it's not the best sales approach.

There is no red flag here. Always good to be safe, but to assume this hasn't been properly screened is a mistake. Making claims about ads of which you have little information isn't that definition.
- Ad placed from a corporate domain name, place of employment using a business email
- Email and ad placement IP addresses match ad data
- Business email service used to place ad
- Has existing Facebook page that matches everything in the ad
That's the list of things I can tell you about her without giving out more personal information which we're not going to do.

I’m with Mandobar on this one, not a great approach but being open that rapid responses to queries shouldn’t be expected. I’ve seen on other fora anxious buyers complaining if they don’t get email responses within the hour.
Looked like she’d also made some previous sales and theses a name address that could be confirmed.
Perhaps a little premature to post the ad without all of the information but it’s certainly getting some interest, albeit to 100% positive!
There is only one red flag here. It's HUGE and it's waving at the boyfriend.

It’s a shame some here apparently missed the funny joke involving the thread title.

I certainly didn't miss the "joke" in the title, but we don't know the circumstance. Weddings are expensive, and costs can get out of control. That said, if someone made a promise to sell something to cover certain costs, and that has not happened, perhaps there is a flag here for the ad poster too. If you think weddings are expensive, try a divorce.
Either way, good luck to the seller. While the approach is a bit un-orthodox, I think the sale is real.

Wow, I read the ad & bit jealous I've been married twice and couldn't even get my wife to make lunch much less post up an for me !
Some guys have all the luck.
Please, won't some kind soul offer to help convert her .png to a .jpg? Easy peasy stuff. I would, but I have things to do today.
This thread isn't as good as the Hammock Guy one... yet... but I'll admit it has potential.

The "joke" in the title ... first, he mistyped the title, see OP, he meant to type, "Unused wedding ring for sale ..."
I took that to be a joke - that because of this ad, the wedding would be off and the mandolin owner has an unused wedding ring to sell. I thinks it's a pretty funny joke in the title and it anticipates most of what's been posted in this thread about that ad!

I agree, there’s bad JUJU associated with this, if he can’t get the nerve to sell it himself, or has to to pay for a wedding, there’s a lot worse ahead for him.
I hope the wedding comes with a big doghouse. My condolences pal.

So this guy answers a classified ad for a 2016 Jaguar for sale for $50. He goes to the address, thinking it's a scam but an interesting one, and the woman says, "No joke, the car's in the garage, and I'll sell it to you for $50; only has 1500 miles on it."
"So, what's the deal? Selling a nearly-new Jaguar for $50?"
"My husband just ran off with his secretary; he e-mailed me to sell the Jaguar, and send him the money. So I'm doing it."
No analogy to the current situation, of course.
