No Mandolin Content Unfortunately!
I've been flatpicking the old guitar a little recently because I injured my foot in a rock climbing accident and I've had more time at home... It's been a ton of fun transposing mandolin licks to guitar and getting more proficient. I even had a little jam session with the guitar player in our band and we both played guitar the whole time! It's been a blast getting better at guitar and being able to improvise some breaks now.
So anyways...
I was scared to do it, but my Larrivee D-03R had a clear pickguard that I wasn't fond of, and I wanted to swap it for tortoise-esque, but the thought of using a hairdryer to heat up the old one scared me, and then the thought of using a chemical like naptha or goo-gone further terrified me but I went for it! I took my time doing it and spent about an hour to remove the old one. It required a lot of patience to get off all of the old adhesive but by the time I was done it was absolutely beautiful and clean as can be. I used Goo-Gone and had no ill-effects. I made sure to clean it all off really thoroughly after I finished...
I'm really pleased with the more traditional look now!
This is something so basic, but I am glad I stepped up and did it!
Here is what the guitar looked like before:
And here is my actual after shot:
I remember long ago feeling a little scared to adjust my mandolin bridge... It always feels good to go for it and understand your instrument better. I'm embarrassed to even post this thread up but I was excited.
