Someone in the comments section below the video on YouTube, says it's "The Tennessee Waltz". Hmm...

Ok so I listened to it about 20 times and yeah I guess it might be Tennessee Waltz, dressed up and stylized quite a bit, but I'm really not sure. In any case, nicely played.

I did the same thing....even looked for versions of Tennessee Waltz in the iTunes Store that might give clues, but I'm definitely not convinced.
As it happens, I actually stopped by the Northfield shop in Marshall MI yesterday to test drive the octave model like the one being played in the clip. Spent some time with Derek Smith (great guy, excellent player). Asked him about the tune before I left and we watched the clip together. He couldn't recall the name of the tune either.

Please, anyone else with any thoughts, let me know. Thanks.

Interesting. I think someone else had mentioned that a few weeks ago, but he said it in a way that I thought he was trying to make a joke or something. I'll look into that as well.

Might he have been inventing a piece to demonstrate the range of the instrument, bringing together phrases from other melodies which came into his head? I wonder if you could contatc Mike and ask him?

I know I'm crazy ...... but I hear a jazzed chord version of Old Home Place first ... then the classical piece I can't name .... after that I can't say ...... What I see is a musician with impeccable skills and talent in spades. Ahhhh Mike .... always a pleasure. R/
