Default Has anyone played a Hopf Model 34?

    Hi folks,

I'm looking to enter the world of German classical mandolin, but of course don't want to start with a bespoke instrument at this stage. Anyone with experience will the D Hopf line of instruments?

    Regards!

    Hi Spencer,
I recently played a Hopf D 34 when I was checking out mandolins in a shop near where I live.
It was a fine sounding instrument, but I prefered a bespoke one, so I ordrered a mandolin from German builder Bruni Jacobs, that I really like.
But I'm sure a Hopf D 34 would have made me happy as well...

    Christian,

Thanks for the feedback! What does Bruni Jacobs charge for an instrument?

    Regards,

    Spencer

She carged me 2100 €, but that was before she had to add VAT, so now, prices should be a little higher.
But if you are not sure about the direction you want to take sound-wise, I guess a Hppf should be fine!
    Or maybe a Guriema: http://www.guriema.de/mandolins.htm
Sometimes, used ones appear on German E-Bay.
