Hey Randi: I might try it again. Been fooling with tenor banjo Irish tuned. Loads of fun. Thanks for posting.

Is this the same place I went a few years ago -- was that on a different day, tho?

No, this is up the road about 6 miles -- exit 33 off I-95. You were at our Monday session in Fairfield (which is still ongoing if you want to come back and bring the banjo!). The Milford Irish Club is new -- I think it's about a year old. If you'd like to drop by for a Monday beginner/whatever session, it's Mondays starting about 7 or 7:30 p.m. for lessons and the session musicians start coming about 8 and stay past 10. Fairfield Gaelic American Club. I'll admit most of the people who came for the session Sunday were from our group but we're hoping to expand out, so please do considering coming!

Quite possible and I told my friend who you met at Dunne's at Brian Conway's sesiun some time ago. Are both of these ongoing through the summer?

yup. The only time we've missed a Monday session is if the club closes for some reason or other (like a massive snow storm); we meet holidays as well (as we say, 'we don't actually have a life'); the sunday Milford session is planned for as long as musicians are willing to attend.

There is another new session at the Milford Irish Club. this one runs the second Saturday of the month and it has a paid leader. IIRC, this weekend it's John Whelan (although I don't remember if it's John alone or John and Brian Conway). I have to check the time, I think it's early afternoon, 3 to 5 maybe? 4 to 6? This is the third month for it and plans are to hold them all year long. With both the sessions at the Milford club, people get 2 free drinks/beer if they want them.

Who'd have thought Milford would be a hotbed of Irish music? If that's not enough, Comhaltas is held the third Thursday of the month, from 8 to 10 p.m., at St. Gabriel's in Milford (down the road from the irish club a couple-three miles) but that doesn't meet in the summer because the church social hall isn't air conditioned, apparently. We'll be there through June, though, so there's this month and next. All of this stuff is open to any player who can find the venues!
