Default Anyone recognize this gibson mandolin tailpiece cover?

    Hello,

Can anyone tell me if this is an original gibson tailpiece cover. And if possible, what year and model it is correct for?

    thank you

Have you got a picture of the cover on the mandolin? That makes it a little easier to tell you if it was original.

    Mike,

I attached two photos of the tailpiece cover to my post. I can see them, not sure why you can't. Any suggestions?

We can see the pictures. I believe Mike meant it would be good to see the cover along with the instrument.

Sorry, I didn't read Mike's reply close enough. I don't have the mandolin that this tailpiece came off of. I'm trying to verify if it's an original Gibson tailpiece cover and not a repro. Also, if anyone can tell me the year and model it goes to?

I'm gonna' take a guess here, just a guess mind you. It looks to be a repro to me. Notice how the "crown" area is not symmetrical. It looks as though it was cut out of sheet metal with a fine fret saw rather than stamped with a well made die. The engraving looks good though.
