Looking through the tune list I noticed there are some tunes that don't appear in the original book, O'Neill's ' The Dance Music of Ireland ' '1001 Gems ' what's that all about then ?

There are perhaps close to 1800 actual tunes from the O'Neills collection so not just taken from the original 1001. As the title says tunes are from the O'Neills collection of Irish Music

I have looked through it, as I said, Kevin Allisons book has tunes that don't appear in it under any form of title, where are they from ?

That's not the original book, 1001 Gems, The Dance Music of Ireland, published Waltons Musical Instrument Galleries LTD, 2-5 North St, Dublin is the original.
I have it in front of me now.

The title of the book says from O'Neills Music of Ireland, it doesn't state the tunes are from the original book, I don't see the issue

Bought this, and although a great set of tunes, there are several mistakes in the book, especially with key signatures and accidentals.
