    Default Gibson combination cabinet/workbench

This ad appeared in a few issues of Gibson's in-house magazine "The Sounding Board Salesman" in the early 20s. Wouldn't it be great to actually find one.

I wonder what the extra $12.50 got you? ...... and if Mr Loar signed any of them!

Has anybody got a copy of the Sounding Board referenced in the ad for the full description? That wouldn't be a tough thing to reproduce.

    I want one!

I was going to,be a wise apple and say the combination is
    24left, 59 right, 22 left
But, that would have been silly!

I'll take two. At that price, why take just one.

That is a great piece of Gibsonalia, Paul Fox. I wonder if the factory actually made them in house, or wether it was a simple conversion of some available cabinetry they sourced? Maybe the cabinet was bought from a wholesaler and they made the 'workbench' tops in house.

There was a whole lot of furniture built in the same area they were in.

    Exactly Mike,
There were myriad furniture manufacturers within fifty miles of Kalamazoo and the benchtop would not have been too tough to produce. The base cabinet looks pretty much like any number of old dressers of the day, to find one complete with tools might be more difficult but, I'm willing to bet there are a few in some basements within the city limits here!
Making a "portable" top which could simply rest on a counter would not be tooo hard. Then, just keep an eye out for an old dresser.
    Hmmm.....
