Default Gilchrist plays through each of the 2016 batch #48

Just noticed on Steve's new website...there are now sound files attached to the photos of each of the 10 instruments in the new 2016 batch #48...
Anybody put a name to these tunes ?

Thanks, but I can't even find the photos. Maybe I have some sort of blocker on?

This is the best promotion for his instruments. I wish there was also information about the recording setup (this is pure geekdom).

Listen to that tone! The tune on Compton's octave is Home Sweet Home. The first black topped Model 1 is The Old South.

The blond 'cello #741 is Handsome Molly.

    This is a fun game!

Click on "Archive" and then "Serial Numbers". Then I had to mess with the thing in the top middle (different ranges of years) to get it to actually load some entries into the big blank window down below--it'll look like a spreadsheet when you get there. Then if you scroll down to the most recent batch and click on a number (e.g. 750 or something like that), you'll see a picture of that instrument, with a sound sample below. I wish more builders did this, but it's probably very time consuming.

Dang....I've never heard a Gilchrist up close but this is about as good as it gets! I'm finally 'getting' why they are so popular..and expensive. Cash in my 401k?? J/K...

    There's more..
When you get to his Archive page and scroll down to the new batch,
click on the heading for Batch 48 and it opens up a large photo dump of
    making-of photos..

    Also ...correction,The 2016 Batch#48 isn't 10 mandolins.....
is 17 mandolins and mandolin family instruments .....
quite a year when you add the restoration of the first Loar #70281.
    An extraordinary effort..NFI

Steve's work will never be equalled, nor his output. It's almost impossible for me to wrap my head around the number of amazingly consistent, high-quality musical instruments. It's really beyond belief. Right on... right on Mr. Gilchrist!

Never say never! Records, even the most impressive ones, eventually get broken. We call this progress.

OK, fair enough... how about highly unlikely!

I always enjoy photos in Gilchrist's shop. The quality of the natural light through the windows in his shop always makes things look beautiful, and because he does such big batches, there is always a lot of eye candy to see.
